FunPlus Phoenix are still a bit shaky and they’ve produced a few sloppy maps across the five series played. But they defeated ThunderTalk in the first week, and if FPX can show the same level of performance they did against JD Gaming on Monday, a 2-0 sweep is possible.

As one of the league’s strongest teams, JD Gaming should be expected to take care of business on Friday and sweep EDward Gaming. But that doesn’t mean they’re a good bet.

EDward Gaming are not as weak as they seem. Their performance numbers are very solid, and they know how to navigate the mid-late game. But EDG also tend to coin-flip important fights, which introduces some unnecessary variance and explains their recent results.

JD Gaming are the superior squad by all metrics; however, they don’t need the win, so it’s possible we will see them try out some new things. Whether that’ll be enough for EDward Gaming to take a bite out of JDG remains to be seen, but we like the underdogs to keep their map pick close.

Anyone’s Legend managed to produce a few flashy upsets in League of Legends Pro League (LPL) 2024 Spring, but their overall performances were very poor, resulting in a disappointing 11th-place finish. For the final split of the season, Anyone’s Legend addressed one weak spot with the addition of top laner Hu “Ale” Jia-Le, but there are still some macro problems they’ll have to improve on in order to accomplish anything.

Ultra Prime have already played their first match of LPL 2024 Summer Placements, winning against Invictus Gaming 2-1. This doesn’t prove much, as Invictus Gaming are one of the weaker rosters in the league, and the eye test suggests Ultra Prime aren’t much better than last split.

It is anything but surprising, as Ultra Prime didn’t replace some of their weaker players during the offseason. At the very least, things can’t get much worse for them, but there aren’t many reasons to feel optimistic about this lineup.

We’re taking a leap and trusting Anyone’s Legend to sweep.

ThunderTalk Gaming retained their roster for the LPL 2024 Summer season but made some changes to the coaching personnel, adding Xiao “Vlone” Chu-Yu as a new analyst. But with Chou “AFei” Cheng-Ting staying put and no new player arrivals, those changes don’t move the needle too much.

Last split, ThunderTalk had their moments. However, even though they didn’t have any critical weaknesses, they also struggled in some areas of the game — mainly in the transition from early to mid.

FunPlus Phoenix have kept all their players from last split and made just one change with the arrival of top laner Zhao “TheNiu” Yong-Zhuo, who might not even start. Keeping the roster together is a reasonable move, as FPX had a very strong run though the first split before they fell apart in the playoffs.

FunPlus Phoenix looked a bit raw in the spring, but this is an excellent squad with huge upside. This squad will surprise many by the end of the season, but they’ll likely need some time to get going, so we’ll tame our expectations for their LPL 2024 Summer Placements opener.

LGD Gaming lost both series last week against Oh My God and ThunderTalk Gaming, although this isn’t too surprising. LGD Gaming have been doing a lot of things right this season and have produced some good performances, but they continue to struggle with closing out games.

This is Weibo Gaming’s game to lose, but their tendency to botch games makes betting on over 2.5 maps a more appealing option. LGD Gaming also have side choices, which bumps them up a bit more.

Team WE enter LPL 2024 Spring Week 8 off a head-scratching loss against Rare Atom, who reverse-swept them with two dominant victories. Poor drafting contributed to it, but it was mostly an abysmal showing from Team WE.

On the other hand, Team WE have not looked bad over the last few weeks and seem to have things figured out. They have won just two of their last six series, but three of the four losses happened against JD Gaming, Bilibili Gaming, and Top Esports.

ThunderTalk Gaming picked up their fifth victory of the split on Friday when they swept LGD Gaming. Before that, they lost to Ninjas in Pyjamas and defeated EDward Gaming, and Royal Never Give Up while showing considerable improvement. However, this is still a weak team that should have no business beating Team WE.

Team WE’s recent slump might make it seem like they can lose to ThunderTalk. But their only concerning loss came against Rare Atom, and even in that game, WE played uncharacteristically poorly.

TT Gaming’s macro isn’t that much cleaner, and their early game is significantly worse, so while it’s fair to doubt the favourites, ThunderTalk Gaming are just a weaker version of Ninjas in Pyjamas.

Invictus Gaming won their eighth series of the split on Saturday, with a 2-0 sweep of Anyone’s Legend. Still, Invictus Gaming were priced as favourites for that match, so seeing them win isn’t that shocking.

Over the last couple of weeks, Invictus Gaming have been performing better than expected, although they’ve not beaten any great teams since their 2-0 sweep of Bilibili Gaming after the Lunar New Year break. This will be a proper test for them.

LNG Esports are the complete opposite of Invictus Gaming, as a team that have been performing worse than expected. With a 4-7 record, LNG still have a lot of catching up to do and based on what they’ve shown recently, it’s difficult to say where they stand.

LNG have more than enough talent to do well, but they’ve not found any traction yet, and their loss against LGD Gaming on Friday doesn’t inspire much confidence either. Even though Invictus Gaming aren’t a great team, they’re playing cleaner League of Legends and are worth a shot at plus money.

Royal Never Give Up have not looked great this split, largely due to their poor macro. Despite doing relatively well in the early game, they look all over the place in the mid-late game.

RNG are 0-4 with defeats against Top Esports, LNG Esports, Rare Atom, and Team WE. While you can’t blame them for losing against TES and LNG, their defeats against WE and Rare Atom are concerning.

ThunderTalk Gaming had a rough schedule last week when they had to play JD Gaming and Top Esports and lost both series. TT had their moments in both games, while they’ve shown some flashes with a win against LNG and a close map against Bilibili Gaming.

ThunderTalk are overall a volatile team, and while you wouldn’t trust them to take down LPL’s top dogs, they’re a solid bet at plus money against another struggling team.

Bilibili Gaming suffered their first loss of the split on Tuesday when they were swept by the surging Invictus Gaming, but they got back on track four days later when they defeated JD Gaming in a three-map thriller. JD Gaming are still good, but they have a few things to figure out — namely how to more efficiently approach gaining early leads and transitioning them into the mid-late game.

Team WE have similar problems; they’re not a very good early-game team. On top of that, their transition to mid-late game is not great, and while WE are individually good enough to compete for a playoff spot, they’re not quite at the level of top teams.

JD Gaming don’t look as good as they should have; however, at the offered LPL betting odds, they’re a solid pick to sweep the unexceptional Team WE.

Anyone’s Legend are 4-2 with defeats against Bilibili Gaming and Team WE and wins over LGD Gaming, FunPlus Phoenix, Ultra Prime, and Oh My God. Even though AL have yet to defeat a good team, they’ve shown good performances and look like a solid mid-table team.

Their true test will come after this week when they face tougher squads. But even if AL fall apart against LPL’s top dogs, they have proved to be a tier above the bottom teams.

ThunderTalk have had their moments, but that is not a good reason to take their side against Anyone’s Legend, who are one of the most consistent performers of LPL 2024 Spring.

Rare Atom have been a complete disaster this split and are one of the prime candidates to collect the LPL’s wooden spoon. The pre-season expectations weren’t high, and they have yet to prove anyone wrong; however, Rare Atom managed to defeat ThunderTalk Gaming on Sunday, which has bumped them up a bit in the public eye.

One victory against another bottom-tier team doesn’t prove much, however. Rare Atom are still fundamentally flawed, with some of the worst performance metrics in early, mid, and late game.

Oh My God have looked far from excellent over the first three weeks of the split but have been playing better than the initial low expectations. They lost a close three-map series against Anyone’s Legend on Sunday and haven’t found much success against stronger teams.

Still, OMG, unlike Rare Atom, have a mid-table team pulse. The favourites should win this one comfortably.

Ninjas in Pyjamas are fresh off a worrying 2-1 victory against Ultra Prime, but that match happened after the Lunar New Year break, which played a role in UP finding the right strategy to do some damage.

One shaky game isn’t a reason for concern, especially with Ninjas in Pyjamas, who are the type of team that will run over any squad that can’t match their strong laners. One such example is EDward Gaming.

Three weeks into LPL 2024 Spring, EDward Gaming have yet to win a series, and unless they figure something out, they won’t see much success this season. Losing support Tian “Meiko” Ye has now proven to be a catalyst of this team’s downfall, although EDward Gaming have far more issues than just a lack of solid leadership.

The kill handicap for this match is set pretty high at 9.5, and even though NiP may run EDG over and close out the maps with double-digit leads, under 25.5 kills for both maps is a more reasonable choice.

Top Esports have managed just one win in the first week of the LPL 2024 Spring, albeit they had to play two vastly different teams. They slipped against Bilibili Gaming on the opening day of the season and levelled the score with a 2-0 sweep of the struggling EDward Gaming.

Those games don’t tell us much about Top Esports and how they’ll perform this season. But despite all the uncertainty, TES are expected to crush Rare Atom on Saturday.

Rare Atom have yet to taste victory this split, with defeats against Weibo Gaming, JD Gaming, and Invictus Gaming. We could forgive RA for losing against WBG and JDG, but their defeat against Invictus Gaming was concerning.

In their defence, Rare Atom looked competitive against Weibo and JD Gaming, so there is some potential in this roster. Still, Top Esports have looked good enough to justify taking their side to cover the map handicap.

Invictus Gaming are tough to figure out. They defeated Ultra Prime and lost against Ninjas in Pyjamas in the first week and secured their second win of the split on Wednesday against Rare Atom.

In both of their wins, Invictus Gaming looked good but not great. More importantly, they got smashed by Ninjas in Pyjamas, proving that IG are not at the same level as LPL’s top dogs.

ThunderTalk Gaming have looked very competitive over the first two weeks, only to lose agianst Oh My God on Thursday. One bad game doesn’t prove anything, but TT Gaming looked weak in the early game, which Invictus Gaming can take advantage of.

If we ignore ThunderTalk’s last game, they’re priced fairly for this match. However, TT Gaming shouldn’t hold a tag as -227.27 favourites with top esports betting sites after that display. Value is with Invictus Gaming.
