G2 Esports performed surprisingly well in their victory over Evil Geniuses on Sunday, suggesting that Nathan “leaf” Orf’s role swap was the right call. The change in team composition also enabled Jacob “valyn” Batio to show what he’s capable of, finishing the series with a 1.59 performance rating, while Trent “Trent” Cairns posted a 1.49.

G2 Esports looked very clean, but partly it was because Evil Geniuses didn’t play well, especially on Icebox. Nevertheless, G2 deserve praise for their performance, especially since they’ve only recently acquired Jacob “icy” Lange.

100 Thieves got stomped by Sentinels in Week 1 of VCT 2024 Americas Stage 1, managing 16 rounds across the two maps. Despite the loss, 100T held on well against the VCT 2024 Masters Madrid champions.

G2 Esports didn’t look great in the VCT 2024 Americas Kickoff, but they have improved significantly this tournament. Whether that’s an indication of great things to come or just a flash in the pan is up to debate — but at plus money, G2 are an easy choice to defeat 100 Thieves.

Sentinels secured their 11th victory of the season last week when they took down 100 Thieves. The underdogs showed some resistance, but that was more of an indication of 100T’s strength rather than Sentinels struggling.

With their success last month, Sentinels will remain the world’s no.1 VALORANT esports team until proven otherwise. And while Leviatan would be considered a threat for Sentinels before the season started, it’s tough to believe that now.

Leviatan formed a very scary roster during the offseason, led by 2022 VALORANT Champions gold medallist Erick “aspas” Santos. But despite all the raw talent, they could only manage a top-six finish in the VCT 2024 Americas Kickoff.

They took a map from Sentinels in February and probably should’ve beaten Cloud9 on Saturday. But Leviatan are not at the same level as Sentinels.

With US$3 million in prize money up for grabs, the Six Invitational is one of the most prestigious events on the Rainbow Six Siege esports calendar.

Meanwhile, the first regional VALORANT tournament will begin on Friday, February 16, with the VCT Americas Kickoff being held in Los Angeles, USA.

Also, the Dota 2 BetBoom Dacha event in Dubai will continue, with the playoffs taking place throughout the week.

        • Rainbow Six Siege: Six Invitational

The Six Invitational is the traditional opening tournament of the year, with the best teams from the year prior invited to take part.

In 2024, the Six Invitational will be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, marking the first time that the South American country has held the event and the first major Rainbow Six Siege tournament to be held there since 2018.

During the tumultuous VALORANT offseason following their surprising world championship win, Evil Geniuses (EG) made attempts to exit their partnership with VCT Americas.

Amidst EG’s downsizing and negotiations, the organization explored the possibility of selling its VALORANT Champions Tour slot and roster to FlyQuest.

However, Riot Games intervened and prevented a transfer from occurring.

Reports indicate that Riot rejected an agreement between EG and LCS member FlyQuest, which would have involved EG transferring their partnership slot to FlyQuest.

The negotiations between EG and FlyQuest reportedly spanned several months, with FlyQuest aiming to acquire both the partnership slot and the championship-winning roster from EG.

Despite efforts to secure facilities and offices for the players, Riot’s decision halted the deal.

This marked FlyQuest’s second failed attempt to enter VCT Americas, as they had previously missed out on acquiring The Guard’s roster from G2 Esports.

Details from the offseason shed light on the contractual situations of EG players.

They were allegedly offered significantly reduced salaries, with those who declined facing the risk of contract termination.

EG also turned down buyout offers for some of its star players, including Kelden “Boostio” Elric Pupello, Max “Demon1” Mazanov, and Ethan “Ethan” Arnold.

As EG prepares to compete in the upcoming VCT Americas Kickoff tournament with a largely revamped roster, uncertainties loom over the organization’s future in Valorant beyond its current contract with Riot Games.

In a significant move, Brazilian VALORANT star Erick “aspas” Santos has officially signed with Leviatan for the VCT 2024 season, following his two-year tenure with LOUD.

Blix.gg reported on September 21 that aspas, one of Brazil’s premier duelists, and the key player who secured the VALORANT Champions trophy with LOUD, had reached a verbal agreement with Leviatan.

This announcement coincided with Leviatan’s CEO confirming their keen interest in aspas, revealing that he had received numerous offers from various VCT regions.

However, aspas has chosen to remain close to home, signing with the LATAM giants for the 2024 VCT Americas league.

Leviatán publicly welcomed aspas to their organization via a tweet and short video referencing his nickname, “Gira aspas.”

It is widely anticipated that aspas will assume the duelist role for Leviatan, mirroring his role with LOUD during his successful two-year stint with the Brazilian powerhouse.

Nonetheless, Leviatan has yet to unveil their fifth player or announce a coach to replace Rodrigo “Onur” Dalmagro for the upcoming 2024 season.

Aspas’s time at LOUD was marked by numerous trophy victories and a period of dominance.

Joining the organization in the 2022 season, LOUD made a grand entrance in Masters Reykjavik, reaching the Grand Finals and becoming the first Brazilian team to achieve this feat, although they ultimately lost to OpTic Gaming.

In a triumphant conclusion to 2022, LOUD secured the Valorant Champions title, marking Brazil’s very first victory on the international stage.

Aspas remained loyal to LOUD in 2023, guiding them to the Grand Finals of LOCK//IN, only to be bested by Fnatic during their hot streak.

After Leviatan didn’t qualify for either of the two VCT Masters or the VALORANT Champions in 2023, a player like aspas could help get them back into contention for Americas and international titles.

?Giants and FUT Esports last met in Week 4 of Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2023 EMEA League, when Giants won 2-0, and according to the latest Valorant betting odds, Emir “rhyme” Muminovic and his crew should enjoy the same success on Tuesday. That doesn’t sound like a wrong assessment, but we must also consider that the Giants haven’t shown much more this season.

Both teams ended the VCT 2023 EMEA League with a 5-4 record and a similar map differential (12-9, 11-8), so the head-to-head is the only thing that sets them apart. Since losing to Giants, FUT Esports have lost against Fnatic (0-2) and Natus Vincere (0-2) and won against Karmine Corp (2-0) and BBL Esports (2-0).

Giants, on the other side, have lost against Team Liquid (1-2) and Heretics (0-2) and ended the regular season with two wins against Team Vitality (2-1) and Karmine Corp (2-0). FUT and Giants look even form-wise, and we could argue they’re not far apart when comparing their individual talent either.

Regardless of what the result of their first meeting might suggest, this clash could go either way. At the odds on offer with the top Valorant betting sites, we like the overs in the total maps market.

?Team Liquid finished VCT 2023 EMEA League regular season in third place, with a 6-3 record and a 13-10 map differential. Their next opponents, Team Vitality, secured a top-six finish by the skin of their teeth, with a 4-5 record and a 9-11 map differential.

Team Vitality barely made it to the postseason due to their dry streak from Week 4 to Week 7 of the regular season. Over that stretch, Vitality have lost against BBL Esports (0-2), Natus Vincere (0-2), Fnatic (0-2), and Giants (1-2), but they recovered.

Those aren’t the most inspiring results, especially considering how much better Team Liquid have looked towards the end of the regular season. But we’re still talking about a team that has dropped maps against KOI (2-1), BBL (2-1), and Giants (2-1).

Team Liquid should win, but Team Vitality are good enough to steal one map.

Leviatan looked like one of the top teams in the VCT 2023 Americas League early into the regular season, but they’ve lost traction midway through and finished in fourth place with a 4-5 record. They ended the regular season with a 1-4 run, with just one win against KRU Esports (2-0) and losses against 100 Thieves (1-2), Evil Geniuses (1-2), Cloud9 (0-2), and LOUD (0-2).

Their next opponents, FURIA Esports, weren’t praised nearly as much as Leviatan, yet they still finished the year with the same 4-5 record. But just like Leviatan, they closed out the regular season with just one win (2-0 v MiBR) from their last five outings, and defeats against Cloud9 (0-2), NRG (1-2), 100 Thieves (1-2), and Sentinels (1-2).

According to the latest Valorant betting odds, Leviatan should win, which makes sense if we put more weight on how good the rosters are. But realistically, Leviatan haven’t shown much more than FURIA in the latter stages of the regular season.

At the offered esports odds, siding with FURIA Esports at plus money makes the most sense.

Sentinels released a video on Tuesday announcing that Valorant player Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen would replace Tyson “TenZ” Ngo in VCT Americas Week 4 following TenZ’s positive COVID result and injury.

The organization also unveiled Sentinels’ new head coach, Adam “kaplan” Kaplan, following the departure of Donald “SyykoNT” Muir after VCT Americas Week 3.

Kaplan explained in the video that TenZ’s move to the bench was because the player had developed a joint infection in his finger before the match against Leviatán. This and TenZ’s positive COVID-19 test led to the team’s decision to field Marved in the starting roster for the next two matches.

“Our boy TenZ, not feeling so good. His finger’s injured, he’s got COVID. We’re gonna give him a week to chill,” the new head coach disclosed.

“Luckily, we have a world champion for sub. We’re gonna be bringing Marved in; we’re gonna be practicing with him this week and playing our super week of matches with him this weekend.”

Kaplan added that the change would not be a reset in the team’s activity, but rather a continuation of their hard work since they were created.

“This is not a reset. This is not a start over; this is a continuation of the work we’ve been putting in since the start of this roster,” he said.

“Change can be scary, but the things you guys need to know, this team is going to be well coached, well disciplined, well structured, and razor-sharp on stage. We have world-class caliber players, and I have every intention of showing what exactly they are capable of.”

The change is not particularly surprising given Sentinels’ performance in the tournament so far. There have been rumors of a change in the lineup since Week 2 of the tournament.

The rumors were eventually shut down after esports journalist George Geddes disclosed that Marved, who lives in Canada, was yet to get a visa to play with Sentinels.

The recent news means that the former OpTic Gaming star has received his visa and can now compete in the league. Prior to joining Sentinels, Marved played with streamer squad Untamable Beasts and OpTic Gaming in 2022.

During his stint with OpTic Gaming, the player won VCT Masters Reykjavík, reached second place in the Valorant Champions, and placed top three at VCT Masters Copenhagen. His last competitive Valorant match was the North American Challengers League Open Qualifiers with Untamable Beasts.

Marved previously played the sixth man for the team in place of Hunter “SicK” Mims, who was facing legal and personal issues at the time.

Besides his finger injury and positive COVID-19 test, TenZ has also had to deal with personal issues, which dealt a significant blow to his performance, resulting in fans criticizing his gameplay. TenZ reportedly had to support his fiancée Kyedae, who is suffering from very serious health problems.

Marved will start playing with Sentinels in their fast-approaching games against LOUD and MIBR in VCT Americas Week 4. The first match is slated for April 21.
